Shedd
Association of Kentucky offers several remediation and educational
opportunities. Please contact the Shedd office regarding tuition and screening
costs for these programs.

In
the spring months we will operate a 9-week model program. Developed by Dr.
Charles L. Shedd this program meets for 9 consecutive Saturday's from 8am-11:
30am. During this time period, each student receives 1.5 hours of one-to-one
instruction in ASPL, 50 minutes of auditory instruction in small group and 50
minutes of small group social values instruction. Parents are strongly
encouraged to accompany their child and serve as a tutor to another child in the
program. Parent tutors receive 1 hour of workshop style APSL tutor training and
50 minutes of support group during this time period.
The average reading gain in the last Spring Term was 8.6 months*

The
Shedd Association operates 2 separate summer programs. The first is geared
toward elementary and secondary school students and follows the same foundation
as the 9 week model program while also integrating mathematics and science. This is a 6 week program that meets 4 days a week from 8am-3:30pm.
For the summer of 2010 the average gain in reading level was 9 months. The average gain in reading comprehension was 1 year 3 months. The average math gain was 1 year 4 months.*
The second program is a
Montessori style pre-school/kindergarten for children ages 3-6. Montessori meets
4 days per week from 8:30am-12pm for 6 consecutive weeks.

receive 1 hour of workshop style APSL tutor training and 1 hour of support group during this time period.
The average reading gain in the last Fall Term was 10.2 months*

Winter Model Program

the winter months we will operate a 9-week model program. Developed by Dr.
Charles L. Shedd, and this program meets for 9 consecutive Saturday's from
8am-11: 30am. During this time period, each student receives 1.5 hours of
one-to-one instruction in APSL, (Alpha Phonetic Structured Linguistics), 50
minutes of auditory instruction in small group and 45 minutes of small group
social values instruction. Parents are strongly encouraged to accompany their
child and serve as a tutor to another child in the program. Parent tutors
receive 50 minutes of workshop style APSL tutor training and 1 hour of support
group during this time period.
The average reading gain in the last Winter Term was 7.2 months*
*Student gains are based on testing at the beginning and end of each term for each student using the California Reading Test.
